FAQ's I heard there is going to be a new location, where is the BWI going to be held this year?
I heard there is going to be a new location, where is the BWI going to be held this year? This year the tournament will be held at Calvary Chapel High School Gymnasium, The address is 3800 S. Fairview St. Costa Mesa 92704. It will be totally indoors. You can Mapquest or check out our map. What time should I have my child at the tournament? We would suggest that you arrive around 8:15a.m. Kick off ceremonies start at promptly at 9:00 a.m. just like last year. Arriving at 8:15 will give you enough time to park, register, and get a good seat. That's up to you, however with this new facility there will be an area with a snack bar and eating area. At this time, there will be Hot Dogs, Chips, Drinks and Candy Bars. We will keep you posted if there is anything added. I'm a little confused about the registration fee, Could you explain how much it will cost? Most Tournaments charge for each and every division entered. In some cases you can spend up to $75.00-80.00 to compete. Not so at the Bob White Invitational. If you enter only Kata it's 25.00, If you enter Kata and Sparring it's 25.00, If you enter all four divisions it's still a total of 25.00 Plus you get a FREE T-shirt. How long will I have my family at he event if we sign up for all 4 events? Last year we started at exactly 9:00, we had 225 competitors and we were finished by 4:45. This year we are cutting off the registration at 300 Kids. Hopefully we will be a bit more efficient and still get finished by 4:00p.m. Do I mail or fax in my daughter's Registration or do you have on-line sign ups? You can do either, however we now have registration ON-LINE. This new addition is so much more effiecent. You can sign up and pay for the event within 5 minutes and the booking on our end will be reduced by 85%. By signing up on-line will instantly guarantee your child to be one of the 300 competitors and thier FREE T-Shirt. What is the new division you have added? SHOWMANSHIP. The rules are basically the same as Kata except that music is allowed and encouraged. A time limit of 5 minutes is imposed. Consistent uniforms are required. We will be scoring the following: Showmanship 40%, Martial Arts Traditional Moves 30%, and Practicality 30%. Of course, if a demo is real showy then it is not likely to be practical so we'll encourage each coach to demonstrate something in each category. What is this organization for which you are accepting donations? Royal Families Kid Camp: It happens more often than any of us want to believe. Each year, over 3 million American children are reported as abused... physically attacked, emotionally damaged, sexually molested, or severely neglected - often by the people they have loved and trusted most. Many of these children are removed from their abusive homes by Social Services. However, removing the emotional scars from a child is a much more difficult task. Your help can make a difference! You can help give abused and neglected children a foundation of happy memories that could forever change their lives. Bob White’s Karate Studio (BWKS) is proud to host its second annual Youth Karate Tournament on Saturday March 24th , 2007. All proceeds from this event will be donated to benefit the Royal Family Kids’ Camp of Newport Mesa. RFKC has completed over 22 years of providing a free week of summer camp for children, ages 7 to 11, who have come from group homes and foster homes in Southern California. For additional information about Royal Family Kids’ Camp, please check out thier web site. www.RFKC.org proud to support RFKC with a donation of $12,000. This donation allowed an additional 25 kids to attend the annual summer camp. Help us to Help Them. |
